Fit Testing

So..I have been doing "Fit Testing" this week. That is..checking the new recruits for mask fit. We use a Scott cartridge mask, for stuff like pepper spray, and tear gas...and an N95 mask for virusssses. In 34 years I have yet to break this out of it's package...but before we had them...there was a time where I could have. A truck full of paint overturned out of the City, and the guy was covered in acetone. I was pretty high by the time I got to the hospital!

Aboriginal Awareness Training

So....I took advantage of my Day shift at EMS and took a City run "Aboriginal Awareness " course. This was taught by an Adrian Goulet (No relation to Robert). It was held at #26 Stn's board room in the CPS Section. It was very interesting, they sent out a precourse quiz that got me into the internet to find the answers. (I think I was the only one that did it!). He started out with a song and a drum routine...then showed us a few artifacts, and a video about residential schools that was very powerful. His wife had baked us some bannock....and showed up later with their baby daughter. I quite enjoyed it and hope they come up with a "part 2" soon.

I felt quite privileged that I actually got paid to go as well as having the tuition paid. Hmmm...I wonder if there is more courses out there like that!?

Post pins dressing

This is what the dressing looks like, after the pins were put in. He used tube gauze and elastoplast tape. He said not to change it for a month....I can imagine how dirty this is gonna get!

It hurt more after the freezing came out than the original injury.

Ok...This was done about 10:30 am at the PLC Hospital by Dr Allan Lin. He said the freezing would last 12 hours...NOT! it is 5 pm now...and hurts like hell. He will take them out in a month...and said I would probably have a permanent tip of finger droop..I didn't want to hear that. He said it would be a good year ...with lots of physio. What a stupid thing I did!!!

Corner Gas

So...I'm watching Corner Gas....and Hank is doing a blog....and everyone pretends they are reading it. I think that is what is happening with my blog....cause I don't see any comments. Oh well....maybe someday, somebody will care....maybe when I'm dead and gone. Or when it comes time to write my memoirs when I'm about 95, if I can still see. I will use it to write my memoirs so some space alien in the future will know what I did with my life. (Hmm...Karen is pretty hot when she isn't wearing her cop uniform)

Finger No Scab today

Happy New Year...after my bath this morning the scab came off...looks a lot better. Still swollen and crooked though. I am quite a bit concerned about that.
